The Erasmus programme is a component of the European
programme ‘LifeLong Learning’ from the European Commission for mobility
of higher education in Europe.
The Erasmus programme aims to encourage cooperation
among the higher education institutions of Europe. A large amount of
money is earmarked for supporting students who wish to complete part of
their studies in another country of the European Union or to finance
student placements in enterprises, training centres, research centres
and other organisations.
Three to twelve months
An Erasmus scholarship covers a period of three to
twelve months. Your own institution must participate in the programme
and must also have a bilateral agreement with an institution in the
Netherlands before your mobility period abroad starts. For student
placements, there is no need for a bilateral agreement between your
institution and an enterprise, training or research centre or other
organisation.
Eligibility criteria
Only students or graduates from educational
institutions can take part in the programme. Your institution sets the
exact eligibility criteria and the amount of the grant.
